Det har hele tiden vært meningen at enkelte av gjestekunstnerne ved Lademoen Kunstnerverksteder skulle være en del av vårt program, - slik at også Trondheims kunstpublikum kunne få glede av denne gjesteordningen som er finansiert av Trondheim kommune og Sør-Trøndelag fylkeskommune.

Nå har vi gleden av å vise en rom-installasjon av Aeneas Wilder, gjest ved LKV i august og september.

Aeneas Wilder kommer fra Skottland. De siste to-tre årene har han vært på stadig reise, dvs. at han har bodd og arbeidet på ulike steder i bl.a. Norge, Canada, Japan, Portugal, Tsjekkia, Nederland og Sveits. Han er i praksis en global nomade, uten fast bopæl. Han bygger sine arkitektoniske og skulpturelle installasjoner av materialer han finner på de stedene han besøker. Materialene bearbeides bare i liten grad, han bruker ikke lim, skruer eller spiker.

Materialene stables opp til store og vakre men skjøre skulpturer. Ved utstillingsavslutning rives skulpturene/ installasjonene ned; rivingen kan få karakter av performance ved at kunstneren får hele byggverket til å reduseres til en haug med materialer med ett enkelt spark.

Materialene tilbakeføres slik til sin tidligere 'ikke-kunst'-status etter utstillingen. Med denne praksisen vil kunstneren henlede oppmerksomheten på alle tings forgjengelighet og foranderlighet.

I trans-art vil Aeneas Wilder lage en rom-installasjon av kasserte bygningsplanker og et veggarbeid av brukte spiker (fjernet fra disse plankene).

Han vil også vise et videoarbeid og videodokumentasjon av tidligere arbeid.

My work is concerned with transience and impermanence. This is primarily explored through temporary structures, constructed without the use of any fixings, and destroyed as part of the artistic process, thereby highlighting the fragility and sense of transience in the work. Since 1998 I have completed over seventy installed works in this manner. Documentation then becomes the end result of the work, primarily through photography and video. This has expanded to encompass performance based work, social intervention and documentary video films. My aims are to continue expanding the scope of my work in order to have a broad impact and influence on the intellectual development of society. It is my intention to explore this in ways above and beyond the systems traditionally associated with visual arts.

My current artistic practice, over the last two years, has focused mainly on the ritual construction and destruction of large scale installations. These installations take the form of structures made using natural materials such as wood. Although architectural and mathematical in appearance they are in fact built up in an organic and intuitive manner. They are built using only balance and gravity as the forces for construction, the destruction of the work allowing for the process of building to begin again. This ritual act of building up and breaking down is a meditation on transience and a metaphor for the continuous cycles of change prevalent in our lives. Each structure invariably has a central «empty» space, which due to the fragility of these structures, becomes a «charged» and important part of the over all experience of these works. Although sculptural in appearance, these works are merely one manifestation of my preoccupation with existence and non-existence, form and void, belief and non-belief, something that is seen with the eye and something that is felt with the being.
